is proud to announce that the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) has awarded the University a $145,000 SOAR Grant to launch a new Summer Bridge Program in July 2026. This investment reinforces Cheyney’s leadership in student access, academic readiness, and high-impact college preparation for emerging scholars.
Clinton County recently held its second "Shop with a Cop" event, organized by the Criminal Justice Club. Fifty families shopped alongside police officers and first responders at the Mill Hall Walmart, creating a special holiday experience for the local community.
On a frigid day with single-digit temperatures, students delivered winter clothing donations to local organizations in need. Students from MANA and the Frederick Douglass Institute brought 19 bags of coats, hats, and scarves to Crossroads Community Services and the Cold Weather Homeless Shelter.
Six student organizations at participated in the first IUP Philanthropy Cup event, raising funds to support the Student Assistance Fund and creating initiatives to inspire students to “give back” and engage in creative fundraising. In addition, Col. Stephen Abel, a 1972 graduate, and Thomas A. Baker, a 2005 graduate, each donated $5,000 to the initiative, which included prize money for the winning groups and a $5,000 donation directly to the Student Assistance Fund.
Last spring, students Brooklynne “Brook” Smith ’27 and Hailey Stumpo ’27 visited an art studio where they painted alongside their scholarship donor, Dr. Sandra “Sandy” L. Corpora ’69, ’23 D.P.S. A year later, they showcased their work in a gallery at the Sharidan Arts Building, highlighting their talent and connection to Sandy.
The room was bustling with students and donors at Millersville’s Celebration of Scholars Dinner. This event connects donors with the students who benefit from their charitable gifts and scholarships, allowing students to express their gratitude for the positive impact on their experience.
Students using the auditorium in Still Hall will benefit from a brighter, quieter, and modernized space, thanks to the generosity of alumni John and Jan Stoner, 1975 graduates. The renovated area features new seats, flooring, lighting, and HVAC systems, funded by the Stoners' generous donation and completed by Clarion facilities staff over the summer.
Kathryn Davis, a student at , was crowned Miss Lancaster County 2026 as part of the Miss America Opportunity. This title enables her to represent both her hometown and the Shippensburg University community. As a history major and an ROTC cadet, Davis is driven by her passion for serving and educating others.
received a transformative gift from Rhonda and Elliott ’80 Haverlack, establishing the newly named Haverlack College of Business. This landmark $5 million investment represents the single largest gift to SRU in its 136-year history. The gift will empower and support student scholarships, faculty research, facility enhancement, and expanded student opportunities.
Two days before Thanksgiving, students, faculty, and staff used the Nutrition Department's Food Lab to prepare 40 Thanksgiving meals for Safe Harbor, an emergency shelter for adults experiencing homelessness. WCU Professor of Nutrition Dr. Jeanie Subach emphasized the importance of applying classroom knowledge to benefit the community. She, along with nutrition majors, also helped address food insecurity during the recent federal government shutdown by providing nutritious food to those in need, including federal workers and local food pantries.
